He stressed that Russia should not only let the Eastern companies “to itself”, but also develop their markets. He also advised not to “throw on the neck” with the eastern partner. According to the businessman, “love should be mutual.”
In addition, as Rotenberg notes, in addition to energy resources, Russia can offer the eastern market a lot more, including finished goods, agricultural products, bioresources, chemistry, etc.
After the start of the special operation in Ukraine, Western countries imposed large-scale sanctions against Russia, which affected the energy, high-tech sector, aviation, the banking industry, the mining industry, the automotive industry, etc.
Against this background, Russia “turned” to the East. In May “Gazprom” reported that in the first four months of 2022, gas supplies to China increased by 60%. And on July 25, the company set a daily record for gas exports from Russia to China via the Power of Siberia pipeline.
