Association of Tour Operators of the Russian Federation reportedthat about 180 Russians cannot fly from Egypt due to the cancellation of flights by the local airline Red Sea Airlines. A plan for the export of tourists by one of the Russian airlines is currently being worked out.

The stranded tourists were sent to the Coral Sea hotel in Sharm el-Sheikh, where they will await a repatriation flight to Russia. Several airlines have already offered to evacuate tourists. The Federal Air Transport Agency and the tour operator Intourist, which organized the holiday, must announce on September 8 which airline will handle the transportation.

ATOR added that there are now about 480 tourists in Egypt who were supposed to return to Russia on Red Sea Airlines flights in the coming days. They will continue their vacation as planned; after the end of the tours, they will be flown to Russia on flights of other airlines.

Intourist is also assessing the feasibility of continuing to work with Red Sea Airlines. A decision on this will be announced soon.

On September 6, Msk1.ru reported that Red Sea Airlines passengers could not fly from Sheremetyevo to Sharm el-Sheikh for more than a day. According to passengers, the flight was rescheduled four times.

Yesterday, September 7, the Federal Air Transport Agency took special control over the issue of departure of Red Sea Airlines flights. The regulator also clarified that the flight was postponed due to a malfunction of the aircraft. On the same day, Russian tourists were able to fly to Egypt. Today Rosaviation reportedthat Red Sea Airlines has notified the cessation of flights to Russia until September 17 for technical reasons.
