“Appearance should be associated with motorsport and the BMW brand” – Kommersant FM

Kommersant FM columnist Alexander Levi tells how the Infinix brand reflected the racing theme in a smartphone.

The Infinix brand has introduced a new product in the Note 30 series – VIP “Racing Edition”. The Chinese company developed this smartphone together with the Designworks studio, which is part of the BMW group of companies. The creators of the product proudly claim advanced materials with an updated racing aesthetic, as well as high performance of the device. But what does this actually mean?

The designers tried to associate the appearance of the Infinix Note 30 VIP “Racing Edition” with motor sports and the BMW brand. First of all, it is a color combination of blue, cyan and red lines, vertically located on the back panel. Moreover, diodes are built into these thin strips. They not only create an accent lighting effect, but also work as a visual notification system and reflect the status of the device.

For the back surface, the creators of the smartphone used imitation leather, which Infinix calls 3D Lighting Leather. The material has been embossed, reminiscent of the finishing checkered flag and at the same time elements of a racing steering wheel. The frame of the phone itself and the rims around the cameras are red. The racing theme is also complemented by a special platform shell. I have not yet been able to assess how impressive this is in real life, but the Infinix Note 30 VIP “Racing Edition” has already received the prestigious iF Design Award 2023 for its appearance.

In addition to special aesthetics, the potential owner of the smartphone will receive a MediaTek Dimensity 8050 5G processor, up to 21 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, an Amoled display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, a 108-megapixel main and 32-megapixel selfie lenses. The box will contain a 68W power supply and a 15W wireless adapter. By the way, the phone supports up to 50 W of over-the-air charging.
