Antiviral sales fall to three-year lows

RNC Pharma Development Director Nikolai Bespalov, in a conversation with Vedomosti, explained that the drop in sales occurred due to the absence of record outbreaks of COVID-19 in 2023. At the same time, the number of packages of antiviral drugs sold still exceeds the pre-pandemic level – in 2019 this number amounted to 72 million packages worth RUB 24.5 billion.
The largest drop in sales in 2023 occurred among drugs for the treatment of coronavirus infections. At the same time, in December the number of drugs sold increased by 20% at the Pharmacy 25 chain and by 84% at 36.6 pharmacies.
