Opera singer Anna Netrebko’s concert scheduled for October 16 in Prague has been canceled for political reasons, concert agency Nachtigall Artists Management has reported.

The agency said in a statement that the concert was canceled for political reasons – due to “negative attitude from the Prague political circles”, as well as “emotionally tense atmosphere”. It is emphasized that the organizers themselves are not happy with the decision, but, nevertheless, consider it necessary.

Money for tickets sold (a full house was expected) will be returned to buyers.

Earlier it was reported that the deputy mayor of Prague, Jiri Pospisil, called on the organizers to cancel the concert of the Russian opera star after consultations with representatives of the Ukrainian embassy.
