Ukrainian singer Ani Lorak, who has been living and performing in the Russian Federation for many years, broke her silence on politics and commented on the events in Russia, Ukraine and their impact on her own life. The statement of the artist appeared on her page on the social network after the authorities of Krasnodar called “imminent” cancellation her planned concert.

On her page, Lorac stated that “various media outlets have been replicating fake accusations and slander” about her for some time. In this regard, she assured that she “never provided military assistance.”

According to Lorak, she is proud of her native country, “her heritage and culture”, but in 2014 “some politicians in Ukraine wanted to use” her “for their own purposes.” The singer claims that she was given an ultimatum: “Either you play our game, doing what we tell you, or you will not sing in this country.” This was “the turning point that pushed me to move to Russia,” added Lorak.

Regarding the fighting, Lorac said that she does not support “any form of violence,” and the death of people breaks her heart.

“I understand that I have been criticized for my silence over the past year,” the artist said, explaining her position: “I am a musician, not a politician.”
