Angola does not intend to cancel the project for the construction of a Russian fertilizer plant, said the country’s ambassador to the Russian Federation, Augusto da Silva Cunha. He recalled that the launch of the plant is scheduled for 2026, while these dates remain in force.
In an interview with RIA Novosti, Mr. Cunya said that within the framework of the project, “conceptual studies have already been carried out.” The diplomat did not provide any details. “We are talking about a project that has already been signed, its cancellation is not envisaged and is not planned,” the ambassador said.
Uralchem in October 2019 signed an agreement with the Angolan Grupo Opaia on the construction of an Ammonia-urea plant with a capacity of about 1.2-1.3 million tons of urea. It is expected that the plant will fully cover the needs of the African country. The cost of the project was estimated at $1.2-1.3 billion.
