The drama “Anatomy of a Fall” by Justine Trieu received the French national film award “Cesar” in six categories, including best film. French actress Agnès Jaoui and American director Christopher Nolan were awarded honorary prizes.

Justine Trieu was recognized as best director, actress Sandra Hüller received an award for her leading role in Anatomy of a Fall, and Swann Arlaud received an award for best supporting actor. The film also received awards for best original screenplay and best editing.

Ms. Trieu became the second woman to win the Cesar Award for Best Director. She dedicated her victory to women who suffered from violence. Actress Judith Godrèche also spoke at the award, calling for recognition of sexual violence in the French film industry. Previously, the 51-year-old actress accused director Benoit Jacquot of rape in 1986, when she was 14 years old. The director denied this.

Thomas Kaye’s Animal Kingdom won five Cesar Awards: Best Costumes, Best Sound and Visual Effects, Best Original Score and Best Cinematography. Arie Worthalter (“The Goldman Affair”) was recognized as the best actor; Adele Exarchopoulos (“I Will See All Your Faces”) was recognized as the best supporting actress.
