Anatoly Gavrilenko’s company Pension Holding will become one of the anchor investors who will buy out part of VTB’s additional issue. The company can receive funds for this from non-state pension funds (NPFs) close to Gazprombank and VTB. This was reported Frank Media.
According to Frank Media, on May 24, Pension Holding received a BBB+ rating (the minimum level that allows NPFs to buy bonds outside the risk portfolio) from the Expert RA agency.
The next day, May 25, the company began issuing bonds without a marketing campaign. The underwriter was the Leader investment company, close to Gazprombank. The declared volume of placement was 30 billion rubles – 30 thousand bonds worth 1 million each. As stated in the press release of Expert RA, the funds received will be directed to the shares of a closed-end mutual investment fund (ZPIF). “ZPIF assets will consist of highly liquid shares of a single issuer with the highest level of creditworthiness and OFZ,” the agency said in a statement cited by Frank Media.
On May 26, Pension Holding acquired shares in the closed-end investment fund PII-Reserve for about 23 billion rubles, Frank Media writes, citing the company’s information disclosure. FDI Reserve is managed by Progressive Investment Ideas Management Company, whose beneficiary is Anatoly Gavrilenko.
According to Frank Media interlocutors, close to large NPFs, VTB shares will be purchased at the ZPIF of this company, in whose additional issue Gazprombank’s division was also going to take part. According to them, the bonds of Pension Holding could be bought out by other NPFs, but which ones are not specified.
In 2023, VTB was going to carry out two additional share issues. In March, the bank completed the state additional capitalization in the amount of 149 billion rubles. In the near future, the bank is also going to place another additional issue of shares in the amount of 50-120 billion rubles.
