An urn with the ashes of Alexander Shirvindt was buried at the Novodevichy cemetery

The urn with the ashes of People’s Artist of the RSFSR, President of the Satire Theater Alexander Shirvindt was buried at the Novodevichy Cemetery, a TASS correspondent reports. Mr. Shirvindt died March 15 at the age of 89.

At the request of the family of Alexander Shirvindt, farewell and burial passed in the presence of only his family and theater employees. However, as TASS reports, some fans still came to the Novodevichy cemetery today with flowers. The urn with the ashes of Mr. Shirvindt was buried on the central alley next to the graves of artists Vasily Lanovoy, Inna Churikova, directors Gleb Panfilov and Vladimir Menshov.

Alexander Shirvindt was born on July 19, 1934 in Moscow. In 2000–2021, he was the artistic director of the Moscow Academic Theater of Satire, and in November 2021 he was appointed its president. As a director and screenwriter, he participated in the creation of more than 30 performances and productions. Mr. Shirvindt is a full holder of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland.
