Omani company Southern Sea Investment LLC will acquire a stake in Russian grain exporter Demetra Holding, according to Vedomosti citing two sources close to the planned deal. The grain trader confirmed this information to the publication and noted that the beneficiary of Southern Sea Investment LLC is an investment fund owned by the state of Oman. What share in Demetra Holding the Omani company will receive is not specified.

One of the interlocutors of the publication specified that the deal is complexly structured, one of its stages is an additional issue. He said that Southern Sea Investment LLC acted as an anchor investor and is not a direct buyer of a stake in the Russian company. The source said that as a result of the transaction, the shares of the Russian owners of Demetra-Holding will be increased, noting that these data will not be disclosed.

June 9, VTB CEO Andrey Kostin declaredthat the financial institution is selling its stake in Demetra Holding and is negotiating with both Russian and foreign buyers. The bank owned 45% of the holding’s shares. July 7 Mr. Kostin informedthat VTB left the grain business. He did not specify who became the buyer. According to him, VTB’s stake was sold at an “objective price”.
