The exhibition “Immortality of Feat. To the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders.”

The exhibition is dedicated to veterans of the Great Patriotic War and defenders of the Brest Fortress, their bravery and courage. The memories of the defense participants, voiced by professional announcers, provide an opportunity to touch history and get to know the biography of participants in the events of 80 years ago. Among the exhibits are portraits of heroes and panoramic views of the fortress. For example, the paintings “Fascist Tread” by Vasily Shishkin and “Battle at the Three-Leaf Gate” by Pyotr Durchin.

The exhibition also contains documentary evidence of events in the Brest Fortress. These are, for example, inscriptions found on its walls, copies of which are also presented in the museum hall. “We die, not in shame!” – says one of them. It was discovered by a worker of the KECH (apartment maintenance unit) in one of the basement compartments of the White Palace.

One of the sections of the exhibition is dedicated to the work of front-line writer Sergei Smirnov, the author of the book “Brest Fortress”. It was he who played a decisive role in attracting public attention to the heroic defense of the fortress, which had remained in the shadows for a long time. The exhibition includes Smirnov’s desk and manuscripts. The opening of the exhibition was attended by the writer’s son, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Andrei Sergeevich Smirnov. “All this gradually became public property. The Brest Fortress has turned into a holy place for all our compatriots,” the actor noted. Among the guests at the opening ceremony were relatives of the fortress defenders – these are their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
