Minister of Industry and Trade of the Far East Evgeny Romanov told TASS that the Amurstal metallurgical plant in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Khabarovsk Territory, will increase production output by 30% by the end of 2023, to 900 thousand tons. According to him, the plant is also increasing the production of industrial gases for domestic consumption.

He also said that the development of metallurgy in the region could be facilitated by the development of a manganese deposit located 70 km from the Dzhelyumken railway station in the Amur region. The manganese content in it is estimated at 27-40%. “We need long-term agreements on the purchase of manganese, then it will be possible to develop production. Or the state can act as a guarantee buyer,” added Mr. Romanov.

Amurstal is an industrial complex that includes steelmaking, rolling and foundry production, as well as its own mechanical repair, railway and other auxiliary workshops. According to information on the plant’s website, the company produces steel for reinforcing reinforced concrete structures, angular and round rolled products, wire rod, wire and billets.
