American telecom operator AT&T reported a data leak of 73 million subscribers

The data of 73 million subscribers of one of the largest US telecom operators AT&T ended up on the darknet. The leak includes names, Social Security numbers and other personal information.

The leak occurred about two weeks ago. It affected approximately 7.6 million current subscribers and about 65.4 million former AT&T customers, reports Bloomberg company statement. The source of the leak has not yet been determined. According to preliminary data, the information is relevant for 2019. The incident did not have a significant impact on the company’s activities.

The investigation into the causes of the failure was carried out by the US Infrastructure and Cybersecurity Agency and the Federal Communications Commission.
