American seafood producer Trident Seafoods accused Russian competitors of dumping

The director of the large American fishing company Trident Seafoods, Joe Bandrant, in a letter to his counterparties, accused Russian salmon fishers of dumping on the world market. The industry publication Undercurrent News writes about this, citing the document itself. It states that due to the high catch of salmon, primarily pink salmon, Russian fishermen are reducing prices for headless and gutted fish. Trident Seafoods says the price of pink salmon has dropped to 1990 levels. Undercurrent News sources indicated that American fishermen are ready to supply fish from Alaska to China at a price of $1.98-2.56 per 1 kg, while Russian fishermen sell such products in the range of $1.54-1.98 per 1 kg.

Other American companies interviewed by the publication said they would not participate in the fishery this fall, as the prices for it do not cover the cost of production. A request to Trident Seafoods went unanswered.
