American singer Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” set a record for the number of daily listens on the streaming service Spotify. On December 24, the song was listened to over 21 million times, reports Vulture with a link to the service’s music chart.
According to the publication, the previous record for 24-hour streams was held by singer Adele with the song “Easy On Me”. It was listened to more than 19 million times in a day.
The song “All I Want For Christmas Is You” was released in 1994 as part of the album “Merry Christmas”. At first, the composition was a commercial success outside the United States, topping the charts in Hungary, Spain, the Netherlands, Norway, Slovenia and the Czech Republic in the year of release. The song took the first line of the main hit parade of the US Billboard Hot 100 25 years after the release, in December 2019. Since then, it has topped the US charts every year in the run-up to and on the eve of the Christmas holidays.
