AliExpress may abandon the last major warehouse in its portfolio

Marketplace AliExpress is considering the possibility of completely abandoning the lease of 55,000 sq. m in the logistics complex “PLT Chekhov”, located on the Simferopol highway in the south of the Moscow region. This was told to Vedomosti by two consultants who worked with the facility, and also confirmed by a source close to AliExpress. According to the interlocutors of Vedomosti, the company has already vacated part of the space, it subleases the remaining premises. In particular, about 30,000 sq. m was removed from her by the manufacturer of welding equipment Resanta.
One of the consultants does not rule out that the marketplace will still leave for its own use in Chekhov about 5,000-10,000 sq. m. m. The representative of AliExpress declined to comment. The logistics operator Professional Logistics Technologies (PLT), which owns the facility, did not respond to Vedomosti’s request.
The logopark in Chekhov is not the first complex that AliExpress plans to release in the near future, consultants remind. Previously, the marketplace planned to become one of the tenants of the Obukhovo logopark on the Gorky highway in the east of the Moscow region. At the beginning of 2022, the company agreed with the project developer to rent 180,000 sq. m to expand your business. But last fall, she adjusted her plans to 40,000-60,000 sq. m, then the sources of Vedomosti told. Subsequently, the online retailer also refused these areas, they were removed by Ozon.
