At a meeting of the secretariat of the Union of Theater Workers, which has just ended, as reliable sources told us, a decision was made that will interrupt all news about the scandalous “Golden Mask”. By the way, they also paid attention and time to the national award and finally dotted all the i’s. That is, the previous directorate de jure and de facto ceases its activities under the wing of the STD, and a new directorate begins to work.
But now few people care about this against the backdrop of the unexpected decision to convene an extraordinary Congress of the UTD, at which the re-election of the chairman of the Union and the secretariat will take place.
That is, Alexander Kalyagin, elected chairman in 2021 for five years, will resign early from his post as chairman of the Union. Accordingly, the current composition of the secretariat may also change.
One can only guess what was the reason for the extraordinary Congress. Of course, recent events and the Union’s position on a number of issues played a role. But we have information that San Sanych Kalyagin has recently expressed more than once his desire to leave the post of head of the oldest creative union.
Who will replace him in this post and will the new chairman, like Kalyagin, be able to take care of theater workers and preserve the considerable property complex belonging to STD – and it, unlike other Unions, is kept in very good condition? These and other questions will be answered by the extraordinary congress, which is scheduled for December 4 at a secretariat meeting.
