At the end of 2023, the European aviation concern Airbus achieved a record volume of net orders – 2094, follows from report concern. Airbus has far surpassed its own achievement in 2014, when it sold about 1.5 thousand aircraft.
Airbus also exceeded its own delivery expectations last year, delivering 735 aircraft to airlines compared with its annual target of 720 aircraft. The actual supply volume exceeded the 2022 figure by 11%.
“2023 was a landmark year for Airbus’s commercial aircraft business, with exceptional sales and deliveries exceeding our targets,” Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury was quoted as saying in the report.
Airbus’ full financial statements will be published on February 15.
Boeing also previously reported strong sales growth in 2023: the American concern managed to receive 1,314 net orders, which was the highest figure for the concern over the past ten years.
“We initially expected aviation to recover sometime between 2023 and 2025, but in 2023 we saw that, along with the market for narrow-body aircraft, the market for wide-body aircraft was also recovering much earlier than expected,” said the head of the commercial aviation division Airbus Christian Scherer.
