The success of family films “Cheburashka”, “Baba Yaga Saves the World”, “At the Command of the Pike” and other similar films formed a fairy-tale brand. Director Alexey Uchitel spoke about this at the conference “Media space 2023: content of the future”organized by the Kommersant Publishing House.

“(Not so long ago. – Kommersant) there was a fashion for sports films. As you know, several films have been released, and they were very successful at the box office,” said Mr. Uchitel. — There is nothing wrong with this (fairy tale genre – Kommersant), but it wouldn’t develop into what they will do… Now 40 fairy tales have been launched into production. And they will be released in the next few years. The question is not to overfeed,” he said.

As an example of the high demand for the fairy-tale genre, the director cited a 17-year-old screenwriter who offered him an original script for a film called “Young Yaga.” According to the director, in addition to scale, as well as “good and eternal,” family films must be of high quality.

Let us note that the premiere of the musical fantasy “The Flying Ship” based on the Soviet cartoon of the same name is planned for March 2024, produced by Alexei Uchitel’s “Rock” studio. The director of the film is his son Ilya, and Mr. Teacher Sr. himself is the producer.
