Late in the evening of July 19, Rublev’s “Trinity” was taken from the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, where it had been since June 4, to the Grabar Center. “We can note that the beacons sagged in places. Let me explain. On the cracks between the boards there are stickers of tissue paper, their condition indicates the movement of cracks. If the paper is torn, then the cracks have become wider.
In this case, on the contrary, they sagged, that is, the cracks became narrower. To draw any other conclusions, a more detailed analysis is needed,” said Dmitry Sukhoverkhov.
In his report, he noted that it would be extremely difficult to ensure preservation conditions in the Trinity Cathedral, and also spoke about chronic “diseases” of a fragile icon, of which there are many, which means that the monument requires regular monitoring and special preservation conditions.
