American rock band Aerosmith have announced a farewell tour starting in September. Its founding members are over 70 years old.
The Peace Out tour kicks off September 2 in Philadelphia. The 40-date concert series includes a stop in the band’s hometown of Boston on New Year’s Eve and ends on January 26 in Montreal.
The group was formed in 1970 and consists of frontman Stephen Tyler, bassist Tom Hamilton, drummer Joey Kramer, guitarists Joe Perry and Brad Whitford, Aerosmith is included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Her hits include “Crazy”, “Janie’s Got a Gun” and “Livin’ on the Edge”. The group is the owner of four Grammys.
“I think it’s about time,” Mr. Perry said in an interview with The Associated Press (AP) about the final tour. “We are opening Pandora’s box one last time to present our fans with the Peace Out tour,” Steven Tyler said in a statement to AP.
Mr. Kramer will not participate in the tour, as he is on vacation to “focus on his family and health.” Drummer John Douglas will replace him.
Joe Perry noted that other domestic and international cities may be added before the tour ends. “This is the last farewell tour, but I have a feeling it will go on for a while longer,” said Aerosmith’s guitarist.
