Aeroclub: share of business trips abroad increased by 4% in 2022

The share of foreign business trips in the total number of bookings among Russian businessmen increased from 7% in 2021 to 11% in 2022. At the same time, in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, this figure was at the level of 21%. This is stated in the study of the Aeroclub company, which cites Forbes.

According to the results of the study, changes were also recorded in the geography of business trips. The share of trips of Russian business travelers to Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and Serbia has sharply increased. After the closure of the European skies, these countries have become convenient transfer hubs for Russian business. The number of business trips to the CIS countries and Asia has also increased. Yulia Lipatova, Managing Director of Aeroclub, connects this with the growth of business activity of Russian business in these regions.

Over the past year, Kazakhstan and Turkey have become leaders among foreign destinations, accounting for 14% of all trips made by Russian businessmen. 7% of the total number of trips were made to the UAE, 6% to Uzbekistan, and 5% to Armenia.

Serbia showed the most significant increase among foreign destinations. The number of flights to this country increased by 428% compared to 2021. At the same time, the demand for flights to Serbia by the end of last year increased by more than 20 times compared to January.

However, the average duration of business trips decreased in 2022. In 2021, the journey lasted nine days, and in 2022, eight. The cost of air tickets on international routes in economy class increased by 63% and amounted to 47 thousand rubles. A business class on one-way flights abroad cost an average of 160,000 rubles, which is 37% higher than the price in 2021.
