Adobe co-founder John Warnock dies

Software developer company Adobe reportedthat one of its founders, John Warnock, died on Saturday, August 19, at the age of 82.
Mr. Warnock founded Adobe in 1982 with Charles Geschke, with whom they had previously worked together at Xerox. The first product of the new company was the PostScript page description language, which is still used for printing text documents and images on personal computers. In addition, he became the author of the Adobe Illustrator program and the creator of the PDF file format.
Mr. Warnock served as the company’s president in his first two years at Adobe, after which he became its CEO and chairman of the board. He shared the last position with Mr. Geschke. In 2000, John Warnock resigned as CEO of the company, but remained chairman of the board until 2017. After retiring from this post, Mr. Warnock joined the board of directors of Adobe.
John Warnock has received numerous awards for his contributions to science and technology. So, he was awarded the National Medal for Technology and Innovation by President Barack Obama, the Medal of Achievement from the American Electronics Association, and the Marconi Award for contributions to computer science and communications.
