Actor, director and singer Vakhtang Kikabidze died in Georgia at the age of 84. This is reported by Georgian TV “Mtavari Archi”. The TV channel did not specify the cause of death.
Vakhtang Kikabidze began work at the Tbilisi Philharmonic in 1959. In 1966 he joined the vocal and instrumental ensemble “Orera”, in 1967 he became its soloist.
Mr. Kikabidze made his film debut in 1966. He starred in the films “Meeting in the Mountains”, “Don’t Cry!”, “Melodies of the Veriysky Quarter”, “Mimino” and many others.
In 2020, Vakhtang Kikabidze was elected to the Georgian Parliament from the United National Movement party of ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili. Since 2008, he has refused concerts in Russia due to the entry of Russian troops into South Ossetia in August 2008.
