A walk with Mayakovsky and an evening with Letov: more than 250 thousand people are expected at the “Night of Arts”

The 11th art event will take place at one hundred venues in Moscow

The art event, timed to coincide with National Unity Day, will be held under the slogan “Russia Unites.” This time, about 100 metropolitan sites joined it, which is half as many as last year. It seems that the authorities have come to the conclusion: less is more. After all, if a cultural promenade results in standing in queues and crowding, then it is unlikely to bring pleasure. Therefore, many events will be available not only offline, but also online, and you can also take a cultural trip far beyond Moscow. For those who want to see “unifying art” with their own eyes, more than 170 free performances, concerts, excursions, literary readings, etc. are available in the capital. The event will begin with a walk with Mayakovsky.

The poet himself will guide you through six points in Moscow related to his biography and work. Of course, Vladimir Mayakovsky will not rise from the dead; his image, with all the features (not only appearance, but also behavior, manners and loud voice) will be played by actors. There will be a total of 30 guides in the form of a poet. The “Poetic Promenade” starts at 17:00 from Krasnaya Presnya Street, where Mayakovsky lived with his mother and sisters from 1913 to 1915: six years ago one of the branches of the Museum named after the poet opened there. And the walk will end on Triumfalnaya Square at the Mayakovsky monument, where a poetic performance will take place. In total, no more than 150 people can take part in the theatrical and literary excursion.

Many museums have adopted the theatrical and gaming format. Thus, the Gorki Leninskie Museum-Reserve will organize a party in the main building – the estate, rebuilt according to the design of Fyodor Shekhtel. During the immersive excursion, they will talk about the traditions of social evenings of the Russian nobility and show in practice the main rules of etiquette that were accepted in society before the revolution. A special event awaits those who want to tickle their nerves – a tour of the Lenin Museum – a huge complex in the form of a white cube, which became the last museum of the leader to open in the USSR – will be held in the dark with flashlights.

At the Museum of Moscow, visitors will have an informal conversation about the work of Yegor Letov and Siberian punk. At the exhibition “I’ll Buy a Garage” on Zubovsky Boulevard, Doctor of Philology, specialist in rock poetry, Professor Yuri Domansky will talk about him. However, the lecturer’s tone will not be at all conservative and professorial: listeners are promised an immersion in Letov’s rock reality. And for a family cultural evening, the museum offers another program – at the Gilyarovsky Center, where children and their parents will be told about the fabulous creatures of Moscow, which can be found right on the facades of buildings, in heraldry and works of art. Where unicorns, centaurs, mermaids and other fantastic creatures came from in Rus’ will be explained during a game tour of the exhibition “How to find a griffin.”

The Tretyakov Gallery decided to dedicate the night event to the artist Nicholas Roerich, whose exhibition is currently on view within the walls of the museum. In the State Tretyakov Gallery building on Krymsky Val, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in an hour-long (from 20:30 to 21:30) “Triangular Dream”. The line between reality and dreams will be erased by original music with oriental motifs, performed by Kirill Osherov (percussion), Hassan Belkacem (hang), Vlad Psaruk (trombone, electronics, vocals).

At the Pushkin Museum, young people will talk about art: schoolchildren and students. The titles of their excursions – “What do flowers talk about” (about plants and their meanings in painting), “Why does a restorer need an iron” (about the skill of restoring exhibits) and “Non scholae sed vitae” (about medieval inscriptions and their deciphering) – indicate that It will not be boring.

The main events of the “Night of the Arts” will take place from 17 pm to midnight. The new head of the capital’s department of culture, Alexei Fursin, said that this year, more than 250 thousand people are expected to attend cultural events for night owls.
