A Turkmen film about an eternal bride will be shown in Yekaterinburg

How filmmakers managed to free the Sverdlovsk film studio from the authorities

Yekaterinburg has long wanted to organize a large and representative film festival. And he appeared a few years ago, but for some unknown reason, very soon ordered to live long. And it was quite successful. It’s just that someone decided not to burden themselves with anything like that. The festival is hard work. After a while, they did not revive it, but came up with another one – on the basis of the Sverdlovsk film studio once again rising from the ashes. They called it “One-sixth”.

The beauty and pride of Yekaterinburg, film director Alexei Fedorchenko, was called to the presidency. On the opening day, he asked himself a question and answered it himself: “They often ask, why do you make films? I made a film about the Sverdlovsk film studio and all its management was removed after that. Fedorchenko’s documentary “Cinema of the era of change” began as a revealing picture, but eventually turned into a comedy. It is impossible to name the story about the squandering of the once powerful film studio otherwise, because what happened is unrealistic.

And now new people have come to the leadership to try to revive the rusted colossus. We decided to start with the festival. According to Aleksey Fedorchenko (he himself has nothing to do with the management of the film studio, he has his own territory), the city where the festival is located is developing faster. And in general, there should be a lot of festivals.

And “One Sixth” opened with the painting “Accomplices” by Evgeny Grigoriev, filmed in Yekaterinburg. This is the debut of a successful documentary filmmaker in feature films. One of the main roles in the film was played by Liza Yankovskaya. Another film with her participation is also presented at the festival – “Nika” by Vasilisa Kuzmina, where she played the poet Nika Turbina, a child prodigy who has grown into a 27-year-old beauty who has lost her poetic gift. Elizaveta Yankovskaya recently made a powerful statement about herself in the cinema. Her famous grandfather Oleg Yankovsky could be proud of her. Liza could not come to the festival, because she is filming in the film “Frau” by Lyubov Mulmenko, the debut of which “Danube” is participating in the festival competition.

The international competition includes: “Water Carrier” by Fayzullo Fayzov from Tajikistan, “Household” by Alisher Zhadigerov and “Fire” by Aizhan Kasymbekov from Kazakhstan, Russian-Turkish-Slovenian co-production “Products 24” by Mikhail Borodin and “Red Kurte” by Sahysalykh Bairamov from Turkmenistan. Paintings from Turkmenistan are a rarity. This film tells how the groom, who has not yet had time to see his bride, is taken to the front on the day of the wedding. He will write a letter where he will ask the girl not to take off her national wedding dress kurta until he returns from the war. The eternal bride will not be able to take it off until the end of her life.
