Absurdist comedy – human tragedy

Director Alexander Khant, known for the films “How Vitka Chesnok took Lekha Shtyr to the nursing home” and “Off-season”, began filming the third film. For this he went to Vladivostok. The absurdist tragicomedy “777” is based on the story of the same name by Kirill Ryabov. The author of the book himself will act as the chief of the protagonist.

Filming will last in Vladivostok until the end of March and will take a month in total. At this very time, Alexander Hunt’s previous film is touring Latin America without him, and these days, “Off-Season” is being shown in Brazil as part of a tour of author’s cinema, designed for the Russian “maybe”. According to the film’s producer from the scene, viewers in Sao Paulo leave the screening in tears. But be that as it may, life in Russia seems wonderful to some of the Brazilian viewers. After the shooting of the new film, Alexander Hunt may join the film tour and personally answer questions from Latin American viewers. In the meantime, he is studying the nature of a person who dreams of a better life, because somewhere it is.

“Until he realizes that this world is right here, then he will not be able to escape from the unfortunate circumstances,” Alexander Hunt believes. – It is very important and interesting for me to create stories rooted in our reality. When I was shooting my first two films, a completely non-cinematic reality opened up before me: the variegation of advertising signs, the poisonous colors of modern architecture, a lot of colors that we are not used to seeing in films. I realized that I wanted to tell not a “gray” story, but to find its color, richness and tragicomic, which is closer to me than pure drama. It is really interesting for me to look for genre films refracted by everyday reality, to invent a plot in a new way. It is precisely this possibility that attracts me to Ryabov’s text.

The cameraman Daniil Fomichev, who worked with Hunt in the film “How Vitka Garlic Carried Lekha Shtyr to the Home for the Disabled”, is called upon to convey all the colors of the world.

The acting team has developed no less bright. Maxim Stoyanov will play Igor Khlebnikov. He will be accompanied by Irina Pegova, Fedor Lavrov, Olga Ozollapinya, Kirill Polukhin, Olga Bogomazova.

Events take place in March 2011 in Vladivostok. There was an accident at a nuclear power plant very close to Fukushima. A simple Russian guy, Igor Khlebnikov, who lives without any special prospects, works in a hamburger shop for pennies. One fine day, he will go to the ATM for a salary and instead of 10 thousand, he will become the owner of 3 million. Then all the most interesting begins: how to dispose of such wealth. The picture explores the “sudden wealth syndrome” and human behavior in a similar situation.

American psychologist Stephen Holbart coined the term “sudden wealth syndrome”. Such a state can lead a person to an “identity crisis”. Having experienced the power of the “golden rain”, Igor Khlebnikov will feel powerful and invincible. But this is just an illusion, and as the authors of the project say, the truth is not in money.
