A new operator of Sakhalin-2 was registered in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities
Sakhalin Energy LLC became the new operator of the Sakhalin-2 oil and gas project, replacing Sakhalin Energy Investment Company Ltd. (a company registered in Bermuda). In the Unified State Register of Legal Entities (Unified State Register of Legal Entities) On August 5, a record appeared that the registration had been made in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. Andrey Oleinikov, the current head of the Russian branch of Sakhalin Energy, became the head of the operator.
June 30 Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decree on the transfer of the property of Sakhalin-2 to the ownership of the Russian Federation. One of the measures to implement the decree is to change the operator to a domestic LLC. Foreign investors must also agree to a share with the Russian operator. For abandoning the project on new terms, the share of foreign shareholders will be sold, and these funds will be frozen in accounts in Russia.
Now foreign investors of Sakhalin-2 are Gazprom, British-Dutch Shell, Japanese Mitsui and Mitsubishi. Previously, Japan has repeatedly announced its intention to keep the shareholders’ shares in the project.
