“A good product costs money” – Business – Kommersant
[ad_1]
50 years ago, Chinese manufacturers first introduced their products to the Western market. Kommersant asked businessmen, journalists and bloggers how they feel about products from China.
Maxim Kadakov, editor-in-chief of the magazine “Behind the wheel”:
– In any purchase, you don’t need to deceive yourself from the very beginning: a good product, no matter whose production, costs money.
I sometimes buy “stray things” on AliExpress: lights, strips, holders for photo and video equipment, but at the same time I know the quality of these products and who makes them. I bought a small tool for giving: screwdrivers, keys, drills. I threw it all out very quickly – the weak, unhardened metal could not withstand the loads.
Good Chinese cars cost a lot of money, everything is in order there both with production and with the quality of the material. In China, as in the rest of the world, it is no longer possible to make a good car cheaply. As, however, it is also impossible to make a premium car of the Mercedes level. No work.
Sergey SanakoevHead of the Asia-Pacific Research Center, RIAC member:
“The time when Chinese goods were perceived as poor quality is gone forever. On the contrary, the era of the widespread use of Chinese products is coming. And if until recently we were quite satisfied with the price / quality ratio of Chinese household appliances, clothes, shoes, now Chinese cars are in demand. And in a year we will be flying on Chinese planes.
I have been dressing in all Chinese for over 20 years. Various gadgets, watches and more. I have not used a private car for more than seven years, but I help our importers build cooperation with a number of Chinese automakers. There have been no complaints so far.
Sergey Rak, Deputy Director of the Russian Franchise Association:
– I only have a Chinese smartphone and a desktop computer, released under a global brand. All work great. Since the 1990s, when a flood of not very high-quality clothes, shoes, toys and household appliances from China poured into our country, a lot has changed. World manufacturers from Germany, Great Britain, the USA and other countries came to China with their own technologies, and the quality of products improved.
A friend of mine who works on a fusion project in France came to China to inspect the production of parts and was amazed at the level of precision on which they were made. “Deutsch?” – he asked. “No, ours, domestic!” The Chinese replied proudly.
Julia Zagitova, Secretary of the Union of Journalists of Russia, member of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation:
— Recently, I have had three Chinese monopods in my life — an extremely convenient thing in order to conduct live broadcasts and take large panoramic photos. But they all broke while adjusting the phone, apparently because they were made of extremely cheap plastic. And it happened in just a couple of months!
Alexander Manyonok, CEO of Ascona Group of Companies:
– We all bought Chinese goods, they broke after two weeks of use. There are still plenty of them on marketplaces, and you can easily run into them. But if you take multinational Chinese companies, their goods are quite high quality.
Our family has been using Xiaomi equipment for several years, it works without a single breakdown. For children, Mi Band smart bracelets are reliable and comfortable. We at Askona had experience with Chinese equipment for the production of mattresses and furniture. We ordered it and reassembled it, because we knew which nodes would quickly fail. We worked with the supplier to troubleshoot and evolve with the supplier. And now, five years later, this equipment has become one of the best in the world.
Alexander Weiss, Crypto entrepreneur, real estate and jewelry investor, blogger (Sasha Weiss):
– First of all, I would not mess with Chinese cars and spare parts. Chinese cosmetics are scary – it’s just not clear what it consists of and how it can affect the skin. But most of all I do not trust jewelry from China. If you look at the photos on AliExpress and Alibaba, they look beautiful. But in reality, this is a very unreliable story: it looks much worse, and the metal is cheap soft brass that bends at one touch and gets your hands dirty.
Of the good Chinese goods, I somehow ordered a very “tasty” and interesting soap. But the price was appropriate – above average.
Alexey Maslov, historian-orientalist, director of the Institute of Asian and African countries, Moscow State University:
– I do not trust those goods that are supplied bypassing official channels or from online markets. Anything can be found there. But first of all, this applies to clothes, food, children’s toys … Most of the goods officially exported are produced in China according to standards and undergo strict control. In my collection of watches from China, several models have been pleasing me for more than 15 years. There are also business suits. But all this was bought in China and in expensive stores.
Sergey Moryakhin, driving instructor, host of the Avtoinstruktor-62 YouTube channel:
– Attitude towards goods from China is ambiguous. On the one hand, the quality of most Chinese spare parts for European cars that our students use is not very good. For safety reasons, we try to avoid them when servicing and repairing.
On the other hand, for personal trips I have been using the Chinese Haval H5 SUV for a year and a half and, given the price / quality ratio, I am satisfied with it. Of course, for almost 50 thousand mileage, emergency situations arose (the cigarette lighter in the trunk burned out, the driver’s seat creaked), but they were all eliminated under the warranty. Otherwise, I do not pay close attention to the fact that the product is made in China.
Andrey Tretyakov, restaurateur, partner of the Stereopeople Group restaurant chain:
– The inscription “made in China” on the label does not inspire confidence in me. It seems that Chinese manufacturers reduce the cost of goods due to low-quality materials. Probably, most of all I do not trust electrical appliances from China – from garlands to microwave ovens and more. I don’t want to get electrocuted. A thing that looks good at first glance can last a very short time and usually fail at the most inopportune moment. Once I bought a garland that worked for an hour and a half and turned off forever.
Alexander Gorny, blogger, co-founder of United Investors:
— I have no stereotypes about Chinese products. I trust their electronics and especially clothes. I sincerely think that the factory in Beijing gives the same quality as the factory in Paris. At the same time, I usually do not follow where this or that thing was produced. I know for sure about the laptop that it is Chinese, and I am satisfied with it.
Andrey Zinoviev, Entrepreneur, co-founder of Hiero Capital investment platform:
“It’s important to set the right expectations here. China is very strong in terms of mass production, and gives great results for little money. Their value for money ratio is excellent. At the same time, the higher we move in terms of technological complexity or uniqueness of the product, the smaller the choice of Chinese brands and goods will be.
So far, this is more of a mass market, like AliExpress, than piece and high-tech things. But there are exceptions, such as electric cars, which are almost never sold in Russia. In this direction, the Chinese have quite good technologies, in places comparable even to Tesla.
