A full-length comedy about the meme hero Zhdun will be shot in Russia, the Bulletin of the Film Distributor reports, citing the Nashe Kino film company.
According to the scenario, Zhdun will be an alien who has landed on Earth, and events will unfold in the village of Abrau-Dyurso.
“Zhdun is our special love, we have acquired the rights to film adaptation of the film with this character. We conducted focus groups and found out that Zhdun is known and he causes a smile and positive emotions in the vast majority of respondents. Zhdun will be animated in our film, the rest of the characters in the film will be actors,” said film producer Maxim Rogalsky
Dmitry Suvorov, who worked on the films “Naughty” and “Own”, will become the main director of the comedy film. Filming will begin in September 2023, and the film will hit theaters next spring or summer.
Zhdun is a common name in Runet for a sculpture created in May 2016 by the Dutch artist Margriet van Brevoort for the University of Leiden (Netherlands), which has become an Internet meme. It is a legless, gray creature with the head of a northern elephant seal, the body of a giant larva, and the arms of a human that sits on a chair in the waiting room.
