A bill has been submitted to the State Duma that proposes to allow outdoor advertising of Russian wine in the regions where it is produced. According to the document, advertising should not include specific wine brands and images of bottles, as follows from the bill card on website State Duma. The authors of the initiative were an inter-factional group of deputies and senator from United Russia Sergei Ryabukhin.
It is assumed that outdoor advertising may contain information about wineries, wine-growing zones, regions and terroirs. It may also mention the type of product (wine, sparkling wine or fortified wine), information about the grapes used in production. The bill also proposes that the Ministry of Health and Rospotrebnadzor develop recommendations for maintaining health when consuming wine products.
Currently, advertising of wine produced in Russia and from grapes grown in the Russian Federation is allowed in print media with the exception of the first and last pages, as well as in television and radio programs that are broadcast from 23:00 to 7:00 local time (exceptions include live broadcasts or recordings of youth sporting events).
