According to Kommersant, the authorities are discussing the creation of a site for the production of low-speed marine engines with a capacity of 10–12 MW, necessary for large-tonnage shipbuilding. Now in the Russian Federation they do not know how to produce such engines, and after the introduction of sanctions against the shipbuilding industry, their purchase became impossible. It is assumed that the Sinara group could become the state’s partner in the project, and the total investment is estimated at up to 190 billion rubles. According to experts, engine power of 10–12 MW covers the needs of ships with a deadweight of up to 70 thousand tons. For the viability of the project, it is also necessary to increase the capacity of Russian shipyards capable of building large-tonnage ships.
