The Kremlin believes that Nord Stream can be restored

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the Nord Stream infrastructures are subject to restoration, but it is currently impossible to determine the timeframe for the repair of the pipelines. According to Mr. Peskov, the United States is interested in the absence of Russian gas supplies via Nord Stream.

“In general, anything can be restored … It is not clear what kind of international cooperation in this situation we can count on, given such a hysterically antagonistic position of the entire collective West in relation to our country, and it is not clear, of course, that these areas have yet to be surveyed, and understand what is down there, what is there at the bottom, in order to understand the size of the disaster, ”said the spokesman during a press call.

Also, Mr. Peskov believes that the United States is interested in the absence of the functioning of the four lines of Nord Stream. In his opinion, the country got the opportunity to increase sales of its liquefied gas at a higher cost.

The day before, October 2, First Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak declaredthat there are technical possibilities for the restoration of gas pipelines, but it takes time and appropriate funds.

On September 26, it became known about leaks on two lines of Nord Stream and one line of Nord Stream-2. On September 29, the Swedish Coast Guard discovered another gas leak. Seismological stations in Sweden and Denmark recorded underwater explosions in areas where the leaks occurred. The first was recorded on the night of September 26, the second – in the evening of the same day.

Later pipeline operators reportedthat the pressure in the pipes has stabilized, which means that all the threads of the Russian gas pipeline were left without fuel. Now, as the interlocutors of Kommersant FM clarified, it is possible to start investigating the accidents, but the Russian side still does not have access to the scene.

More details in the publication “Kommersant FM” “Nord Streams are lost in conjecture”.
