According to a company representative,Transmashholding”(TMH, controlled by Andrey Bokarev, Iskandar Makhmudov, Kirill Lipa and Dmitry Komissarov), which is engaged in the production of cars for the Russian metro, shipments were not made in July, they resumed in August. Deliveries in April, he declined to comment.
According to Rosstat, 430 metro cars were produced in Russia last year. Moreover, 85% came from the TMH Metrovagonmash plant in Mytishchi, its proceeds from the sale of railcars amounted to 36.2 billion rubles. This year, the company expects the Moscow Metro to account for 55% of its total revenue. The Moscow metro confirmed that it is planned to receive another 168 cars by the end of this year. “We will continue to update the fleet of metro cars in accordance with the approved plans,” he added.
The slowdown in the production of metro cars is associated with global anti-Russian sanctions that were introduced after the start of a special military operation in Ukraine. Against this background, some international technology companies have ceased cooperation with Russia. There are more Western-made components in modern cars, adds a source close to the Moscow deptrans. As a result, many factories went into idle time. In particular, due to a shortage of components that are produced in the USA, the Tikhvin Carriage Works went into idle time for 2.5 months – from mid-May to August 1.
