90% of foreign-made aircraft received airworthiness certificates

More than 90% of aircraft that were previously registered abroad received airworthiness certificates, reported in the press service of the Federal Air Transport Agency.
“Rosaviatsia and its territorial departments have completed the main stage of issuing airworthiness certificates for aircraft of Russian airlines previously registered in the registers of foreign states. <...> More than 90% of the total number of aircraft previously registered in the registries of foreign states have passed inspection checks and received airworthiness certificates.
The Federal Air Transport Agency stressed that this measure was necessary to “ensure the smooth functioning of the air transport industry.” The agency clarified that from September to the end of the year, about 600 foreign-made aircraft needed airworthiness assessment.
Some of the aircraft are currently being serviced or under repair. “Such aircraft will subsequently be inspected for their compliance with airworthiness requirements,” the statement said.
At the end of February, the European Union imposed sanctions against Russia in response to a special operation in Ukraine. In particular, the sanctions provide for a ban on the sale of aircraft, components and equipment to Russian airlines.
Until March 28, foreign leasing companies had to take their aircraft from Russian operators. In response, the government ordered return them only by decision of the government commission on import substitution. As a result, a significant part of the aircraft remained in Russia – they carry out transportation within the country.
