80th Golden Globe Awards Nominees Announced

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) has announced the nominees for the 80th Golden Globe Awards. The award ceremony will take place on January 10. This is reported on site premiums.

Category “Best Drama Film” nominated are James Cameron’s Avatar: The Waterway, Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, Steven Spielberg’s Fabelmans, Todd Field’s Tar, and Joseph Kosinski’s Top Gun: Maverick.

For the award in the nomination “Best Comedy or Movie” “Babylon” by Damien Chazelle, “Banshee Inisherin” by Martin McDonagh, “Everything Everywhere” by Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, “Knives Out: The Glass Onion” by Ryan Johnson and “Triangle of Sorrow” by Reuben Estlund will compete.

The top contenders were Martin McDonagh’s Banshee of Inisherin (8 nominations), Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert’s All Around the Same Time (6), and Damien Chazelle’s Babylon and Steven Spielberg’s Fabelmana (5 each). Among the series, Abbott Elementary School has the most nominations (5).

The nominees were selected by 96 HFPA members and, for the first time in the organization’s history, by 103 international voters. They were recruited from international industry organizations, renowned international film festivals and journalism professionals from 62 countries, according to a press release. The organization emphasized the diversity of the composition of the electors this year. According to the association, the electorate is about 52% female, 51.8% “racially and ethnically diverse”, 19.6% Hispanic, 12.1% Asian, 10.1% black, and 10.1% Middle Eastern.

Previous Golden Globe Awards passed without hosts and without stars, NBC refused to broadcast it for the first time in several years.
