520 employees fired from IKEA factory in Leningrad region

According to a representative of the government of the region, about 50% of workers from the total number of personnel were reduced at Ikea Industry Tikhvin. Now the plant has about 500 people left to work. It is noted that 152 former employees of the IKEA enterprise applied to the Tikhvin branch of the labor exchange.
As the authorities of the region emphasized, the employment service helps the dismissed personnel find a new job. The organization also assists them in professional development and provides psychological support.
The fact that about 500 out of 1,000 employees will be laid off from the plant became known back in mid-July. This was announced by the head of the Committee on Labor and Employment of the Leningrad Region Alla Astratova.
The day before, the IKEA factory in the Leningrad region resumed work as part of the pre-sale preparation of the enterprise. It was noted that factories in the Kirov and Novgorod regions will start working from September 5.
On March 4, IKEA temporarily closed its stores in Russia amid a Russian special operation in Ukraine, logistical problems and sanctions. In mid-June, it became known that the company was looking for buyers for its four factories in Russia, as well as reducing staff and selling off the rest of the goods.
The sale for employees took place at the end of June in the stores of the chain. On July 5, an online sale for customers started. It ended on August 15th. During September, stores will only work for the issuance of completed orders, as well as for the return and exchange of goods.
