At Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk airport, 18 arrival and departure flights were delayed due to bad weather. An emergency warning for January 15 due to blizzards and heavy snow is in effect in eight municipalities of southern Sakhalin.

On the evening of January 14, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Sakhalin region announced emergency warning for January 15 in the Makarovsky, Dolinsky, Anivsky, Korsakovsky, Nevelsky, Kholmsky, Tomarinsky districts and the city of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. Forecasters predict heavy snow, blizzard conditions, visibility of 500 m or less with wind speed gusts of 20-25 m/s.
