12-time Grammy-winning saxophonist Wayne Shorter dies

Jazz saxophonist Wayne Shorter died March 2 in Los Angeles. He was 89 years old. The newspaper reported The New York Times (NYT), citing his agent Elissa Kingsley. She did not give the cause of death.
Wayne Shorter was born in 1993 in New Jersey. In 1956 he graduated from the New York University School of Music. From 1958, Mr. Shorter played with Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers for four years. During his work with the team, he received international recognition. During his career, he recorded several dozen solo and collective albums, the last one was released in 2022.
In 2014, Wayne Shorter received a special Grammy Lifetime Musical Achievement Award for his contributions to the culture and history of American music. During his life, Mr. Shorter received 12 Grammy awards and a total of 23 nominations for it.
