Over the past two years, the register of foreign depositories has been replenished with 11 new participants, according to data from the Central Bank, which analyzed “Vedomosti”. The newspaper clarifies that in previous years the list was replenished by one or two players.
Currently, 113 organizations are listed in the Central Bank register. The list includes depositories registered abroad, with the help of which foreign issuers can initially or secondary place their shares in Russia, and Russian issuers can issue depositary receipts.
As Vedomosti clarifies, the register was replenished mainly by organizations from friendly countries. The Central Bank has registered four depositories from the UAE and one from Oman. The list also included three participants from Cyprus, who were previously associated with Russian financial holdings (Lime Trading Ltd, BKS Capital and Veles International Ltd). The register also included one depository each from Brazil, Kazakhstan and Armenia.
Two depositories left Russia – the Moldovan National Securities Depository and the British company Sova Capital.
