100 million rubles were allocated for the development of a game about an alternative reality in Russia

ANO “Internet Development Institute” (IRI) will allocate a grant of 100 million rubles. Russian company Watt Studio for the development of the historical computer game “Trains”, says the interlocutor of “Kommersant”, close to Iran, adding that the total budget of the project will be about 180 million rubles. The Internet Development Institute confirmed the allocation of a grant for the project, refraining from further comment.

According to the co-owner of Watt Studio Yegor Tomsky, the game will unfold in an alternative reality in Russia at the beginning of the 20th century. “The game’s story will echo real history, such as World War I, the 1917 revolution, and so on, but the setting will allow the player to look at them from a different angle,” he explains. Mr. Tomsky adds that the studio is now finishing the development of the project prototype, and the release is scheduled for the end of 2024.

According to the data kartoteka.ru, Watt Games LLC was established in 2020 with an authorized capital of 10 thousand rubles. The company is owned by Mikhail Vrubel (60%), Yegor Tomsky (20%) and Alexander Andryushchenko (20%). In May of this year, the company released the One Day More game for PC.

“Trains” is not the first high-budget game project co-financed by the IRI. In May of this year, the organization approved the allocation of 260 million rubles. the Russian studio Siberia Nova to develop the action RPG Troubles, which takes place in Russia during the Time of Troubles and the Polish intervention.
