The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) sent a warning to the German Mast-Jаgermeister SE due to the requirements for the Kaluga distillery Kristall (KLVZ) to stop selling drinks under the Alter Heiler and Konig Heiler brands, which the German manufacturer considered counterfeit, reported TASS. The German firm refused claims to the Russian plant.
The FAS indicated that they did not recognize Mast-Jаgermeister SE as a violator of the law. The company complied with the warning, so antitrust cases were not brought against it. This was also confirmed by the press service of the Kristall plant.
On pressure from the manufacturers of Jаgermeister KLVZ complained in December 2022. The factory said the German company had demanded that Alter Heiler and Konig Heiler bitters be removed from sales, which began sales in October. Kristall called the demand a manifestation of unfair competition and appealed to the FAS.
In January Rospatent considered Alter Heiler label similar to Jagermeister “confusingly”. In this regard, the department refused to register the Russian designation as a trademark. KLVZ promised to challenge the decision of Rospatent.
