The number of counterfeit money in the banking system continues to decline

In the third quarter of 2022, 4,516 counterfeit banknotes of the Bank of Russia were detected in the banking system of the Russian Federation, reported Central Bank. This is almost two times less than a year earlier (8,981). Compared to the second quarter of 2022, the number of counterfeit ruble banknotes and coins also decreased (was 6,387). The most frequently counterfeited are the largest denominations – five thousandths. In second place was the most “running” face value – 1 thousand rubles.
The number of counterfeit banknotes of foreign countries is also declining. In the third quarter, 388 pieces were identified, compared with 556 in the second quarter and 833 a year earlier. Most of the fakes traditionally account for US dollars (263), followed by the euro (122).
