A court in Moscow fined Amazon 2 million rubles. for failure to remove prohibited content

The Tagansky Court of Moscow imposed an administrative fine on Amazon of 2 million rubles. The reason was the company’s failure to remove content to which access is restricted, Interfax reports.
The court found Amazon guilty under Part 2 of Art. 13.41 Code of Administrative Offences. Roskomnadzor’s claims related to information about methods of suicide and places to buy drugs. Representatives of the American corporation did not participate in the meeting.
Foreign IT companies are regularly fined in the Russian Federation for failure to delete prohibited information. In 2022, the Magistrate’s Court of the Tagansky district of Moscow appointed Amazon’s first two fines amounted to 4 million rubles. The reason was the refusal to remove prohibited information (Part 4 of Article 13.41) about methods of committing suicide, as well as for reposting from a prohibited website about drugs.
