The Philippine Embassy in Russia stated “Izvestia”that the country is ready to launch direct flights with the Russian Federation in the first quarter of 2024.
“In addition to the Manila-Moscow and Cebu-Vladivostok flights that were discussed earlier, we are open to other possible destinations. Among the cities from which it is possible to launch flights are also St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk and Irkutsk,” the embassy told the publication.
The flights will be operated by Aeroflot, which in July 2023 received access to regular flights to Manila and Cebu, Izvestia recalls. The publication reports that flights from Vladivostok and Khabarovsk were also considered.
At the same time, the embassy noted that the current Air Services Agreement (ASA) between the Russian Federation and the Philippines does not yet list a single Russian airline. The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAB) is awaiting the airline’s application for approval from the Philippine side. The Federal Air Transport Agency said that in order to resume direct flights, the desire of carriers to start such flights is necessary.
