Passenger traffic of Aeroflot Group grew by 16.2% since the beginning of the year

In August, the total volume of traffic increased by 7.5% and amounted to 5.2 million people. The company explained this dynamics by the “continuing development of the group’s route network.”
From January to August, the group carried 77.8% more passengers on international routes than in 2022 – up to 3.3 million people. In August, the figure increased by 95% and reached 934,400 people.
Since the beginning of the year, passenger traffic on domestic routes has increased by 7.4% and amounted to 23.5 million people. In August, on the contrary, there was a drop of 2.1% to 4.29 million people. At the same time, the company noted that this is 20.1% more than August 2019.
During the summer season, the group’s airlines carried 14.7 million passengers. The peak was reached in August; before that, in June and July, passenger traffic amounted to 4.3 million and 5.1 million people, respectively. At the same time, Aeroflot emphasizes that the percentage of passenger seats occupied in August was 91.7%. “On domestic routes – 93.0% (an increase of 1.8 percentage points), which reflects the high demand for air travel,” the report says.
Since the beginning of the year, passenger traffic of the parent airline Aeroflot has grown by 22.2% to 13.47 million people: 2.3 million on international routes (an increase of 95.6%) and 11.17 million on domestic routes (+7.1% ). In August, the figure on international routes doubled compared to the same period last year – to 699,500 people. The number of passengers carried on domestic routes in August decreased by 13.5% – to 2.11 million people.
Transport Minister Vitaly Savelyev in July reportedthat this year Russian airlines plan to transport 101.2 million passengers. According to him, the industry will cope with this even with 11 airports closed. During the first half of the year, 53 million passengers were transported.
