Vladislav Surkov published in the magazine “Russian pioneer” poem “Someone else’s spring”. We present it uncut.
spring is not local
in the whole district there was no one
and they took someone else as a bride
because of the seven Batu steppes
she stands sullenly stupidly sleepy
as if here and maybe nowhere
staring at the slanting Tatar sun
in empty windows in last year’s snow
its warm expired stale
conceals in itself and is in no hurry to give
as if frozen and waiting for something
and of course she is not waiting for me
lived through all non-holiday dates
someone else’s spring and at the end of the day
dead soldiers in the ruins of the sky
scaring the birds they sing: “not for me …”
The last position held by Vladislav Surkov was presidential aide. He served in this capacity from 2013 to 2020. After the Maidan in Ukraine, he was the main curator of the Kremlin’s policy in the Ukrainian direction, until Dmitry Kozak replaced him.
