MTS bought a manufacturer of electronic equipment for cars

MTS Auto LLC (“subsidiary” of MTS) acquired 100% of Dee Vai Technologies, which manufactures automotive electronics. Now Di Wai Technologies LLC is building a plant for the industrial production of electrical equipment for cars on the territory of the special economic zone Technopolis Moscow, reports Interfax with reference to the MTS press release.

According to the agency, the deal took place on March 20. According to SPARK-Interfax, Di Wai Technologies was registered in 2019. Denis Smirnov, General Director of MTS Auto LLC, already owned 51% of the company’s shares before the deal was concluded.

According to a press release, it is planned to develop and produce at the plant under construction, in particular, telematics systems, hardware solutions for driving safety, on-board information and multimedia systems with ecosystem services of MTS and partners. The company also stated that the plant is included in the program of the Ministry of Industry and Trade for the development of the automotive industry until 2035.

A Kommersant source in the IT market said that MTS plans to launch the production of multimedia systems for cars in Tver in 2023. According to him, the company plans to produce more than 10 thousand devices a year, supplying them to domestic and Chinese automakers. According to Kommersant’s sources in the auto parts market, the MTS system can run either on Linux, which will limit its functionality, or on Linux combined with Android if it receives Google certification.
