Film director Andrey Zvyagintsev, who announced the day before output from the Russian Oscar Committee, announced the decision to also leave the Union of Cinematographers and the jury of the Nika and Golden Eagle awards.

He explained his decision by his unwillingness to be involved in the decisions made in the country, informs RBC with reference to the director’s statement.

The publication indicates that, among other things, Zvyagintsev criticized the special operation in Ukraine.

“I remain a Russian director and a Russian citizen,” Zvyagintsev said, “only without academic and other membership privileges, to make decisions that are fateful for anyone.”
